今次是要尋幽探索這瑪雅文明

瑪雅文明是源於中美洲

整個瑪雅時間

大概由公元前 1500 年開始

直到 16 世紀

公元前 200 年至公元 800 年左右

是瑪雅文化最興盛的時期

Chichén Itzá (奇琴伊察) 是保存得最完整的瑪雅遺址

在公元 6 世紀至 10 世紀早期

Chichén Itzá 就是瑪雅的主要城市

而當地保存得最完整的金字塔

就是眼前這一座羽蛇神金字塔

為祭祀和供奉羽蛇神而建的神殿

相傳羽蛇神是一條長滿羽毛的蛇

就好像中國人的龍

對瑪雅人相當重要

羽蛇神是主宰星晨、發明書藉、歷法

並為人類帶來玉米

羽蛇神還代表死亡和重生

是祭司的保護神








早期的羽蛇神金字塔是開放給遊人參觀的

但後來由於發生過意外

從此就不再對外開放

但其實並無此事

只是羽蛇神金字塔是一座神聖不可侵犯的神殿

不希望受到破壞

所以墨西哥政府才不對外開放








瑪雅文化是出現在中美洲的森林裡

大部份都在內陸地區

而很多遺址都淹沒在森林裡

因此在 1839 年

有一位紐約的律師 John Lloyd Stephens 來到這裡旅行

赫然發現遺址

一發現則非同小可.......迷戀上了

開始逐一探索並發掘了很多相關的資料

當時的瑪雅遺址沒有太多歷史記載

即使當地的後人也不知道是甚麼

所以自己搜集資料後回美國寫了一本書

令世人認識了這個地方

世界各地的考古學家在中美洲的叢林和荒原

亦陸續發現了很多被遺棄的瑪雅古代的城市遺跡

Chichén Itzá 是瑪雅文明的精華

在這遺址內集合了球場、金字塔、天文台及神殿

而這四樣已代表瑪雅歷史的特點

奇琴伊察金字塔最獨特的地方

四面都有 91 級的階梯

加上高台剛好是 365 天

是一年的日數

亦與哈布歷和現代的太陽歷的天數完全吻合

除了有這 365 天的日數計算之外

還有一個特別之處

是每年的春分和秋分

階梯會出現金蛇的倒影

稱為『羽蛇神下凡』了

象徵羽蛇神春分時甦醒

提醒大家要春耕了

很多來自不同地方的人

專程來看這個現象

春分是在大概下午 3-4 時會出現這個場面

石級的倒影出現在旁邊

形成一條金蛇出現的情況

看看這簡直是一個藝術建築

古跡景點常見的墨西哥蜥蜴

千柱廊沒有人能準確數出有多少根柱子

武士神殿後便是千柱廊

千柱廊上面曾經是血祭場地

血祭是瑪雅一個特別的祭祀方式

很多人都根據傳說相信

他們是用活人祭祀的

而這個石台上的確遺留了很多血跡

令人感覺有些恐怖

瑪雅人祭祀頻繁且相當殘忍

無論戰爭、節日、祈求豐收等等都有祭祀儀式

祭祀不但有豐富的珍寶祭品

瑪雅人還會用活人的心臟

作為活人祭的祭品

羽蛇神在遙望它的金字塔

『恰克莫』是羽蛇神的使者

 

 

其實羽蛇神金字塔一點也不震撼

只有 42 米高

只是 145 米高的埃及胡夫金字塔的三分之一

而建築時間更晚了 3500 年

連早前的塞墨西哥城附近那 Teotihuacán 高度 62 米的太陽金字塔也不及









但這個金字塔與埃及的不同

它不是國王的墓地

而是世界最大的天文時計

亦是建築與藝術的完美結合

這是根據瑪雅三大月歷精心設計的巨大天文時計

由太陽來驅動

El Caracol 天文台是瑪雅的建築物中

一個非常大的亮點

世界上古文明甚少有自己的天文台

他們利用蝸牛形狀的天文台來

觀察月亮及行星運行外

最重要是看金星的運行

而金星對瑪雅的歷史及文化來說是很重要

因為他們是用金星計算歷法的

瑪雅人通過長期觀察星象

已掌握日蝕周期和日、月、金星的運動規律

他們的歷法是世界上最完美的歷法

整個體系由三種歷法構成

即神歷、太陽歷及長紀年歷

當中的太陽歷是一年有 365 天

正是我們現在所用的日歷

而瑪雅人的日歷中

地球已經末日了 4 次

最後的一次即第 5 次是瑪雅歷 3113 年

即西歷 2012 年 12 月 21 日

感覺是這麼近

但時間已是最好的証明

瑪雅亦有一個很迷惑的地方

就是這裡的球場有很多石環

代表太陽東升和西落

但球賽的結果就是一場血祭

經由犧牲負方球員的鮮血

太陽才得以照耀萬物

石環是以前瑪雅人進行球賽用的

奇怪的是這球場是全中美洲最大的

一般人知道瑪雅的球賽

不能用手碰亦不能用腳踢

只能用肩膀、膝蓋、腰、臂部等位置接觸球

但這個球場的石環 (4 米高)

遠高於瑪雅遺址發現的一般石環

於是人們開始懷疑

到底他們有甚麼神祕方法

利用這個球賽來進行比賽

似乎要有驚人的彈跳力

才能讓球穿過球環

這點令很多考古學家無法理解

墨西哥的傳統繡花裙

這個布偶實在令人不寒而慄

是否瑪雅的血祭品
